India sent a proposal to extend the two-Test series

January 6, 2009

BCCI has formally sent a proposal to the New Zealand Board to extend the two-Test series by a match when India tour the island nation in March-April this year.

The tour, starting March 6, originally featured two Tests, five one-dayers and a Twenty20 match.

“The proposal to play an additional Test match has been sent to New Zealand Cricket, which will be responding to it soon. The BCCI incurred a Rs 120 crore loss last year after India’s tour of Pakistan was cancelled and the visiting England team pulled out of the last two one-dayers of a seven-match series in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks.

The Indian Board is also planning a one-day series against Sri Lanka next month to make up for the cancellation of the tour of Pakistan.
